She is also the Cardcaptor, the one charged with capturing and sealing the Clow cards. Once sealed, Sakura can then use the cards. Sakura was a little surprised when her father suggested she attend Meillure. Though her mother had been a student there and her father had taught history there, Sakura hadn't considered going to Meillure herself. Though well used to her brother's ability to see spirits, Sakura hadn't considered the possibility she might have abilities of her own (as she hadn't recognize her ability to sense spirits as such). Her father assured her that non-powered students were equally welcome to attend. Shortly after she started attending Meillure, Sakura found a strange old book called "The Clow" in her father's study. When she touched the book, a stuffed animal emerged from the cover, Kerberos. Though he was the Gaurdian of the Seal, Kerberos had been napping, giving the Clow cards that were sealed in the book a chance to escape. Sensing that Sakura had some magical ability, Kerberos enlisted her to capture them and return them to the book before they caused trouble. So now Sakura searches for the Clow cards with Kero's help and the support of her best friend (and second cousin), Tomoyo Daidouji (who makes 'battle outfits' for her). Energetic and cheerful, Sakura sometimes comes across as naïve, clumsy and clueless. However, on occasion she can be very perceptive. Kind-hearted, trusting, and optimistic, Sakura has a phrase she refers to as her 'invincible spell,' which she uses to encourage herself: "Everything will surely be all right." | |
